Observing HPE’s acquisitions of SimpliVity and Nimble through the lens of recent history
Check out this guide with observations from the last 18 months for data storage maintenance on the third-party market.
BHAGs or Bust - Relus in 2017
The big acquisition story of 2015 and 2016 (and surely the millennium thus far) was Dell/EMC, and there’s a good chance that won’t be topped for a long time. But if there’s a single storage OEM that has made a big splash thus far in 2017, it’s obviously HPE.
Tidbits part II: Considering third-party maintenance for EMC, Dell, HP, and NetApp
Our theme for the year is “Everyone Makes Their Quota in 2017” (#EMTQ2017). This is a campaign for collaboration and investing in one another’s success, as opposed to a mandatory sales order. We will work together to fill our parking lot with Teslas, reach personal and department goals, and encourage one another along the journey. The Relus team is completely committed to achieving our goals.
Team ReluTech in 2017
Last year, I wrote a blog to share some of the market knowledge I had gained from talking with hundreds of customers about post-warranty support (third-party maintenance) for some of the most common storage platforms. Since then, a few areas of the market have changed, our capabilities have increased, and thousands more companies have at least considered third-party support after seeing a staggeringly high renewal quote from their vendor.
Setting audacious goals for 2017
Setting goals of any magnitude is easy. Most people will significantly underestimate the amount of energy required to achieve the goal. It is critical for every ReluTech employee to understand our mission, values, and goals as we continue to grow.
What NetApp's acquisition of SolidFire means for you
Goals, like promises, are easy to make. The difficult part is the work necessary to achieve the goal. One of my biggest past mistakes was setting a lofty goal and then making excuses to rationalize not reaching it. It is tempting to defend a lack of success with obstacles.
Toys for Tots, Toys for Tech
Earlier this week, NetApp announced it would acquire the startup SolidFire for $870 million. So what does this mean for NetApp customers?
Since our inception, our CEO Mark Metz along with our leadership team have consistently emphasized the importance of giving back to the community. This charitable mission actually had the biggest impact on my decision to join the ReluTech team almost two years ago. One of the many ways we give back is by donating to Toys for Tots every December.
